Lions win T.B.C. ABA West (5th) Title: Program’s Second Title at TBC Championships

Ten teams took the court at the Mill Works in pursuit of The Basketball Circuit Boys ABA West (5th) Division title on Saturday. Over the next two days, they left their blood sweat and tears all over the hardwood in one of the most competitive tournaments of the entire T.B.C. Championships. When the dust cleared, it was the Lions who emerged as the last team standing to claim the league title.

After a first round bye thanks to an impressive regular season, the Lions began their tournament run by gutting out a four-point, 33-29, quarterfinal win over the Mill Works Saturday afternoon. The Lions made several big defensive stands down the stretch to hang on for the win. The Lions cruised in Sunday morning’s semifinal, scoring a 42-23 victory over One Dream.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the bracket, Team-X was playing truly inspired basketball. After blowing past Team Synergy 43-21 in the opening round, Team-X rallied for two impressive, mail-biter wins. Team-X held off One Dream 43-37 in the quarterfinals and Team Spartans 35-32 in the semis, setting the stage for an epic showdown in the championship.

The Lions and Team-X tipped off in the championship at 10:10 a.m. Sunday morning. What followed was an absolutely epic battle from the opening tap to the final horn, with the Lions edging out Team-X 42-38 in the closest title game of the entire T.B.C. Championships.

The title was the second of three championships that the Lions program would claim over the T.B.C. Championship weekend, with the Lions’ capturing the T.B.C. Girls ABA (4th/5th) Championship on Saturday morning, and the WNBA Girls Varsity title Sunday evening.
